Sick January and Annoying Kids and Laptop Cooling Pads. Read on to uncover the truth!

Hi everyone, I’ve finally made it back onto the blog. Just after I started my website I managed to come down with a really bad cold. I was shooting lugies into tissues for nearly a week straight and I’m fairly sure I coughed a lung out. Needless to say, it was not a good time and I wouldn’t wish that sickness on my worst enemy (OK, maybe my worst enemy. Definitely not my second-worst though).

Towards the end of my sickness, I actually went to see my GP (!). This isn’t something I normally do, but none of my normal remedies were working. Now that I think of it, I was behind on my iodine painting which may have had a lot to do with everything. And to and onto that, it seems like everyone I met this week was sick as a dog!

Nevertheless, I got some kind of really bad sickness. The first two days my nose was running non-stop and my throat was extremely painful, I hated literally every swallow I had to take. On the third day, I got a really bad fever and had to lay down for most of the day. My temperature was up to 102 and I felt terrible. Day four and five the fever subsidded somewhat only to replaced by diarrhea AND constipation, as strange as that sounds. I would have diarrhea one second, then I wouldn’t have another bowel movement for days. It was really strange and very uncomfortable. My internal flora was clearly severely damaged and my internals were not working properly.

The GP recommended antibiotics but I had to refuse because of my previous terrible experiences with them. My digestion was messed up for 5 years after a long stint of antibiotics and I refused to use them again unless I absolutely had to. I knew this disease wasn’t life threatening so I decided to take things into my own hands. I logged onto my favorite site, EarthClinic, to look up some remedies for a cold.

I saw an article for using food-grade hydrogen peroxide as a remedy to a cold and flu. I thought it sounded like a great idea and gave it ago. I did some research and it looks like hydrogen peroxide treatments have been used since the time of Queen Victoria and probably before. People in India found out that adding a small amount of H2O2 to their drinking water helped ward off the flu and colds and cut the recovery time by a huge margin. I decided to give it a go.

I started the H2O2 on the fifth day and was feeling MUCH better by the seventh. I have to take my hat off to the hydrogen peroxide, I’m sure I would have recovered naturally but I’m convinced the hydrogen peroxide treatment cut my recovery time I was feeling nearly 100% in only two days of using the treament. Check out some more information regarding these miracle chemical here.

Well, due to me being in bed for nearly a week I had a LOT of time on my hands. I watched NetFlix on my laptop for DAYS straight. I’m completely caught up on Breaking Bad now, which is truly amazing. Anyway, during this time my Dell Inspiron was getting hot. And I mean REALLY hot. I had my laptop resting on the bed at first while I was watching Buffy but within just a few hours it was getting extremely hot and actually managing to heat up my whole room. I tried putting it on my lap for just a second, but that was a terrible idea. I nearly burned my skin off! No bueno at all.

Me, being the anti-computer person I am (hey, I even had my son create this website for me!) I went to ask him for advice. He recommended something called a “laptop cooler” which I had never heard of before. Turns out it is a pad you can place your laptop on that will blow extra cold air into your laptop. So I went ahead and purchased one after finding the best laptop cooling pad thanks to Best Laptop Cooler Info. Great site and a recommended resource, check it out at www.bestlaptopcoolerinfo.com. Anyway, I purchased the cooler and it finally came about three days ago. I’ve been using it everyday since then and I’ve noticed my laptop is MUCH cooler than it was before. Anyway, I definitely recommeded you getting one if you haven’t already, I may not be a tech person but I know a ton of heat can’t be good for you computer.

Anyway, now I’m over my cold / flu thing and feeling A LOT better. Expect several new updates soon. Until next time, stay healthy and jog on!

Welcome

three_peppers2Hi, welcome to my site! I’m Cindy and I’m glad to bring my blog to you! It’s been awhile in the making, I’ve been wanting to get my own blog for so long but I never had the time to keep it up. I’m so happy to finally have my site up and running, let’s hope it turns out well! So on this blog I’ll mostly be writing about health and fitness related stuff, which is near and dear to my heart. This is not a place for medical advice as I only have anecdotal evidence, go here for that!

I love working out and try to get out and run, walk, jog or whatever at least 4 times a week, I go to an aerobics class 3x a week and I also take a Zumba class twice a week. I also try to get in some light weightlifting and flexibility training when I can. So, as you can tell I really enjoy this stuff!

I’m also into healthy and holistic living, it’s one of my favorite things. I love eating organic and supplementing my diet to achieve true food Zen! I was a Chemistry major in college so I’ve been interested in science for a long time, it’s really been my driving force in life and helped me to make sense of the things around me.

I love seeing how Biology is at work within our bodies, and I’m constantly trying to find the perfect balance for it with my diet and what not.

Anyway, there’s my background so get ready for some more posts coming up soon!
